Story:
On 26th July, 1956, after the Widow Remarriage Act was passed, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar came to Shantipur and he arranged the marriage ceremony of a widowed girl, Kalimoti with Shree Chandra Bidyaratna from Naihati. This was the first widow remarriage and Ishwar Chandra performed it entirely at his own costs. 
The weavers of Shantipur in order to pay homage and celebrate this revolutionary act wove “Vidyasagari PaaR” sarees and on the borders they wove the following words : “বেঁচে থাক বিদ্যাসাগর চিরজীবী হয়ে.."
