MADHABILOTA DHUTI

Story: Our old studio had a Madhumalati/ Madhabilata tree at the gate. It emitted the most subtly sweet smell and when we left office in the evening, I would feel a strange calm. Their English nomenclature is also so beautiful “Rangoon Creeper”. Recreating old cross stitch embroideries on dhutis have been our favourite thing. And this pattern reminded me of Madhumalati flowers. Especially the shades of pink. We had to do it!
