The major reason for choosing the person to wear this is, her name. Karuna.

This blouse is a tribute to Karuna Bandopadhyay and how she immortalized one of the most powerful characters Bengali cinema has ever witnessed. Sarbajaya.

We embroidered a happy moment of her with her children. Durga is wearing a Mukut because I have always missed her decking up. She had stolen a “Pootir Mala” in her childhood from an affluent friend, but could never wear it out of fear of getting caught. The necklace stayed in that house years after she had passed away. In my mind, I always imagine Durga decked up, Apu holding on to her and Sarbajaya smiling. And for me, Sarbajaya will always be Karuna Bandopadhyay.
