Story:
Our Studio para is an architectural paradise. Old art deco buildings, stunning grille patterns and beautiful tiled floors. Our neighbour’s ground floor “baranda” has a beautiful floral and chevron mix on the tiles. Typical old school Bengal Tiles. My team mate Pritika developed the patterns into sareee borders and our weavers in Shantipur recreated them on fabric.
The red oxide floors of old Calcutta homes became an inspiration for the colours. The tile patterns match alpona too.
We have named it Lake Terrace after our studio neighborhood.
