Story:
Ramdhonu - For years Gorod was considered as "Boron er Sharee", "Snidur Khelar sharee" - sarees our mothers and grandmothers reserved for auspicious occasions and photographers for portraying Bengal. One of my most favourite scenes of a woman in Gorod (much before Vidya Balan in Kahani) was Rakhi in Aparna Sen's Parama. In short Gorod for the longest time and for most of us meant, the quintessential married Bengali woman's sharee worn mostly during Pujo. And the saree when worn makes sounds like someone is munching potato chips.
We broke both the above stereotypes by making Gorod in brightest of colours and without starch.
Beautiful Paisleys on the border and pallu and flowers woven on the Kora body.
This one is the quintessential Gorod - an OG among its coloured counterparts.
